These are very helpful especially in early recovery.  It takes maybe 2-5 minutes to start your day off with that meditation.  Get a good head start on something that will encourage you along your journey.

Daily hope, a recovery devotional, what the bible says about dealing with difficult people.  All of these are great to read to start your day off on the right front.  And the best thing about them is it’s a really quick message so for the days when I was rushing out of bed I can get through an entire devotional while brushing my teeth.  Listening in the car, while you have coffee.  I start my day off with 3 of these and it pays dividends on the days that are really busy.

Each morning I start off with a chapter in the bible, a recovery devotional, and prayer.  This helps set a routine and if for some reason this was all that I was able to give God that day it at least was something.  Throughout the day I do try, and make sure that I am reading a chapter from one of the many books that I have opened and started.  Being able to read others experiences, their stories, and just other helpful tools to keep me sober goes a long way.  You reap what you sow.  If you continue to feed yourself help, help will come.  If you continue to feed yourself trash, trash is what you will get.

Since our lives tend to be so busy, this is huge to start the day and get some consistency in.  Establishing a routine and having these daily readings not only start me off on the right foot but enables me to settle down whatever disturbance is going on inside of me.

I can admit that I do not use these as much as I used to early on in recovery.  However I still do read a few, and sometimes I just need that quick message of hope or encouragement to get through the different challenges of the day.

God Bless!
